Research Seminar Invitations
The Macroeconomics & Public Economics Research Seminar series is organized by the CER (Econ Office Campus and Econ Office Zollstock), with information for inviters posted here. For other series, contact the organizing units.
If you want to invite a speaker, you may first want to consult the [planning schedule] for available dates.
To invite a speaker, email helge.braunwiso.uni-koeln.de with the subject "UCologne Econ: Invitation seminar talk SpeakerName", indicating speaker affiliation / perhaps time frame / perhaps special modalities. Generally, travel costs and accommodation are financed via the CER, but may require co-financing, especially if the guest stays longer for a research stay. Also be aware that there are numerous restrictions. If CER financing is involved, the decision for an invitation may be run by the CER Board. You or Helge Braun will invite speaker, asking for a date selection from [planning schedule]. The inviter's office team will take it from there.
Generally, invited seminar talks involve:
- provision of an office for the duration of the stay (ideally close to inviter and seminar room)
- scheduling of office consultations ("one-on-ones") with the speaker for our doctoral students and junior and senior faculty.
- a dinner
Please also keep in mind that we are looking for prominent incoming guest to teach topical or methodological Mini-Lectures for our doctoral students. These remunerated 2-3 day compact courses a geared to fill in any gaps in our qualification program and help students develop their research networks. If you think this may be fitting for your guest, let us know.
Notes for Office Team This [sciebo folder] contains files for sharing / organization, especially [planning schedule]. The link is read only. Send out a dfn-scheduler-survey for office consultations /dinner, an .ics with the info on the talk along with the invitation and record on the respective tab in [planning schedule].
The talk should then also be set up in our Typo3-Newssystem with Category “Vortrag”. Ask Helge if you need assistance with any of this.
Fly-outs generally work the same way. But here, information is not published externally. Instead, there is an Email-invite with the info above.
